Explore the latest Methodify stimulus enhancements, designed to give researchers greater control over how respondents view and interact with DIY survey stimuli.
Media Timer
A configurable delay that disables the survey’s "Continue" button for a set duration (5, 8, 10, 12, or 15 seconds) when images are displayed. This ensures respondents spend adequate time reviewing the image before advancing, encouraging meaningful engagement with content.
How to use:
Image timer options can be accessed in the Stimuli card on the project’s configure page and when adding images to a survey question in the survey editor.
- In the Stimuli card, select a duration from the dropdown under Image timer.
- When adding an image to a question in the survey editor, enable the Image time by clicking the check box; a dropdown will them appear where the duration can be selected.
- The timer applies each time a stim is shown to the respondent; they cannot advance until the timer expires.
Stim Review
Determine how stimuli are presented in follow-up questions within Monadic and Sequential Monadic blocks. Previously, respondents could only revisit the stimulus by clicking a URL link. With this enhancement, users can choose to display the stimulus directly within follow-up questions, allowing respondents to view the stimulus while answering and providing a more seamless survey experience.
How to use:
- In the Stimuli card on a project’s configure page, or in the Block in the survey editor, scroll down to Stimuli review.
- Select preferred setting from the dropdown.
Multi Image for Info Questions
Multiple images can now be added to Information questions outside of Monadic or Sequential Monadic blocks. Previously, multi-image support only existed within those block types, but this update gives DIY surveys more flexibility to display multiple images wherever needed in the survey flow.
How to use:
- In the survey editor, add or edit an Information question.
- In the question editor, look for the option to Add media and upload the first image.
3. Click “+ Add another image” to upload a second image. Repeat as needed.
Accessibility improvements in DIY surveys:
Add accessible descriptions to visual stimuli using the Accessibility Description option. These descriptions provide meaningful text alternatives, helping ensure visual content can be interpreted by screen readers and other assistive technologies.
