Import Survey Questions

Easily import your Word file and convert it into a fully editable Methodify survey. 

Save time by using AI to import questions into Methodify.  Instead of typing or pasting survey questions and answers, simply import a Word file to a project and AI will identify the questions and answers in the document to create a survey in the Methodify survey editor.  From there, you add sample, logic, and media before sending the project for launch.*

(*Companies that have opted out of AI capabilities will not have access to the Import Survey Questions feature.)

Tips for a smooth import

To ensure your survey uploads successfully, follow these best practices:

• Your Word file should be in English and contain up to 40 questions.
• Questions must be numbered.
• Supported question types include:
  Single Answer, Multiple Answer, Grid/Matrix, Multiple Answer Grid, Open End, Numeric, Rank, and Information.
  (You can add more questions after the upload is complete.)
• Questions can include answer options with exclusives, randomization, and anchors.
  (Additional logic can be added after upload.)
• Sample and quotas should be set within the Sample section of your project and do not need to be included in the survey. Click here to learn more about Sample.

What you can add after upload

Once your survey is uploaded, you can enhance it with:

• Question and answer logic: Skip logic, screening logic, rotations, min/max, carousel, masking, etc. (Learn more about question settings: https://methodify.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/36654706748948-Question-settings)
• Media: Add images, videos, or audio to questions. Images can also be added to answer options.
• Advanced question types: Quotas, Hidden, Block, Link Connector, MaxDiff, and Conjoint.
• Revisions: Add, remove, re-order, and/or edit questions in the project survey editor. 
• Languages: Add French or Spanish to an English survey by updating the survey settings and entering your question and answer translations.

Review and Edit your survey

Before launching, take time to review your survey:

• Carefully check each question to ensure all content transferred correctly.
• Click Edit on any question to:
  • Update text or answer choices
  • Change the question type (e.g., from Multiple Answer to Single Answer)
  • Add media, question logic, or answer logic
• Use Preview to see exactly how your survey will appear to respondents.

How to create a survey using AI Import survey questions

1. Build a project and select “Import survey questions” on the survey card.

2. When “Import survey questions” modal appears, upload a file via drag and drop or browsing folders.

3. The document will be uploaded and the questions will be converted into the Methodify survey editor, where it can be reviewed and revised before being sent for launch.
