Link connector

The Link connector question type allows you to add a link to your own 3rd party survey or technology within a Methodify project. Respondents who are completing a survey that includes this feature will start within the Methodify survey experience and be seamlessly directed out to your 3rd party survey or technology and re-directed back to Methodify afterward.

This feature requires that your 3rd party survey platform can receive the parameters (with the same names and values) that are passed from Methodify for each respondent and pass them back in real time.

Add the Link connector question type to your survey.

Input a name, an optional test URL and production URL for your 3^rd party survey or technology.

Select the amount of time it will take respondents to complete the 3^rd party experience from the dropdown. This will be used in the LOI calculation for the sample pricing for your project.

Confirm that you will input the redirects that our operations team will email you into the back end of your 3rd party survey or technology.

Within the settings of the question type, you also have the option to select:

• If you want the sample questions to be asked or not
• If you would like the preceding single select and multi select answers to be passed to your 3^rd party survey or technology as parameters
• If you would like to input instructions to respondents before they are redirected

 

Setting Up the 3rd Party Survey Redirection to Methodify

Upon completion of the 3rd party survey, the respondent needs to be redirected back to the Methodify survey. When redirecting respondents from Methodify to the third-party survey, the parameter return-url will be included in the redirect URL. Follow these steps to ensure proper redirection back to Methodify upon survey completion:

1. Return-url Parameter: When redirecting respondents to your third-party survey, the return-url will be passed as a parameter. Here's an example of what the redirect URL will look like:

   https://surveyurl?return-url=https%3A%2F%2Fmethodifysurvey.com%3Fstate%3Dc3e25427-ca72-48d3-94b6-e033ec0850bd

2. Read the return-url Parameter: Your survey platform needs to read the return-url parameter from the URL. This parameter contains the URL to which the respondent should be redirected upon completing the 3rd party survey.

3. Redirect Respondent Back to Methodify: Once the respondent completes the 3rd party survey, redirect them to the URL specified in the return-url parameter. This ensures the respondent is returned to the Methodify survey correctly. For example:

By following these steps, you can ensure seamless redirection from your third-party survey back to the Methodify survey, providing a smooth experience for respondents.
