The URL Parameter question type allows Methodify Go users to pass data from an external source into a Methodify survey using a survey link parameter. This is particularly useful for integrations with a sample provider, segmentation/typing tool, or pre-profiled respondents. It enables users to capture known respondent data at the start of a survey or throughout the survey using Link Connector, MaxDiff, or Conjoint questions. This data can then be used to drive survey logic or be included in reporting for deeper insights.
Steps to Configure a URL Parameter Question
1. Add a URL Parameter Question
- When setting up your survey, add a new question.
- Select URL Parameter from the list of question types.
2. Define the Question
- Enter the question text (e.g., "Coffee consumption").
- This question will not be visible to respondents but will be included in reporting.
3. Set the URL Parameter Name and Values
- Define the URL parameter name (e.g., Coffee).
- Input the parameter values and their corresponding labels.
Example Configuration:
Capturing the URL parameter data at the start of the survey via the Survey Link
- The survey link must include the URL parameter name and value.
- Example:
- Heavy coffee consumption: https://surveys.methodify.com/survey?coffee=1
- Medium coffee consumption: https://surveys.methodify.com/survey?coffee=2
- Light coffee consumption: https://surveys.methodify.com/survey?coffee=3
Capturing the URL parameter data throughout the survey via the Link Connector question
- Configure a Link Connector, MaxDiff, or Sawtooth question.
- When redirecting back from an external survey, include the data you want to pass back to Methodify in the survey link.
- Example:
- Heavy coffee consumption: https://surveys.methodify.com/survey?coffee=1
- Medium coffee consumption: https://surveys.methodify.com/survey?coffee=2
- Light coffee consumption: https://surveys.methodify.com/survey?coffee=3
- Add a URL Parameter question after the Link Connector to capture the data from the survey link.
- Configure the URL Parameter question not to capture data at the start of the survey.
Notes
- URL Parameter questions will appear in survey data and reporting just like any other survey question.
- Respondents will not see these questions while taking the survey.
